About the Role & Team

IDC is seeking a Custom Market Intelligence Analyst (Manager or Director level) to work in our Data Collection & Creation Center of Excellence  (DCCCOE) developing custom analytics and data projects for clients. The successful candidate will be comfortable and adept at working with a diverse group of project stakeholders to deliver highly strategic custom data projects. This role will manage end-to-end delivery of custom data creation and analysis projects, working with cross-functional contributors to produce high-quality custom datasets for IDC clients.


This position sits within IDC's Global Custom Analytics Delivery Team within the Data Collection & Creation Center of Excellence focused on data creation and delivery of custom market models (e.g., market forecasts, market share, market segmentation, spending analyses) for IDC clients. This specialized team is responsible for data modeling and producing the final dataset on custom projects. The candidate should be enthusiastic about working with large amounts of quantitative data and complex datasets, collaborating with market analysts to provide insightful context so that client stakeholders understand the key drivers behind the data, and the implications for their strategy, their competitors, and the market overall.    

 

What You’ll Do

Translate project specifications into actionable data structures to structure data models in Excel and other analytical tools to address client requirementsUnderstand and identify key data sources for model inputs andWork with IDC analysts to incorporate trends, unique insights and research into custom data modelsAnalyze and interpret large datasets using Excel and other internal analytical toolsManage quality assurance on all client deliverables and conduct quality assurance checks on dataGenerate data deliverables to client specificationsWork with other IDC analysts, present data and insights and work with project managers to address data-related questions

  • What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree (MBA or similar) a plus
  • 10+ years of professional experience with a strong emphasis on data analysis, market modeling, and analytical problem-solving
  • Demonstrated market intelligence expertise, with a working knowledge of the ITC / technology markets strongly preferred
  • Experience with market research methodologies, including market sizing, segmentation and forecasting
  • Advanced Excel expertise, including complex calculations, pivot tables, and large-scale data analysis
  • Strong data analytical capabilities, including the ability to identify outliers and anomalies in large datasets and understand their potential impact
  • Familiarity with IDC datasets, taxonomies, and market definitions, or the ability to quickly learn and customize them to meet specific client requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical concepts, insights, and processes clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Experience in MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook

    At IDC, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Employees are compensated equitably for their work, aligned with their skills and experience. Salary and incentive structures are determined through a rigorous process that considers experience, education, certifications, role-specific requirements, internal equity, and verified U.S. market data from an independent third-party partner.


    The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $100,000 – $150,000, inclusive of base salary and variable compensation.
