Job Summary

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for supporting customer use installation tooling, electro/mechanical testing of prototypes, final production testing, agency testing and documentation of custom samples and approved products.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  •  Implement modifications to lab equipment under the direction of Quality, Design and Mfg. Engineering to improve quality of tools.
  • Fabricate custom assemblies and machine parts as required using general machine shop practices for milling, lathe, and grinding function. 
  • Document and test new designed parts and changes to existing parts as necessary.
  • Support Engineering by aiding in the design, testing, fabrication and documentation of product and process prototypes.
  • Support Marketing and Sales with assembled samples for end use Customer applications or as required.
  • Make recommendations to crimp tooling improvements.
  • Interface with customers on use of installation tooling.
  • Perform inspection when needed. 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Participate as a member of a Cross Functional Team and/or Project Team as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • AS/ Technical or equivalent in related field with five to seven years’ experience in the fabrication of test set ups, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electro/mechanical machinery which is used in general lab and agency testing. 
  •  Computer experience required Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.). CADKEY a plus. 
  • Good understanding of general machine assembly techniques, machine maintenance, and machine shop practices also required. 
  • Must be able to perform strength testing on appropriate equipment.
  • Must be able to use a variety of hand tools, with occasional use of drills, saws, electrical meter to test circuits and fuses. 
  • Ability to verbally communicate with suppliers and customers when obtaining price, delivery and technical data.
  • Ability to use computers for data entry purposes and report generation as necessary. 
  • Technical skills to fabricate maintain and troubleshoot complex machinery. 
  • Must have some basic knowledge of ISO standards.
  • Must have the knowledge to understand the OSHA and other federal and state regulations. 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift and carry between 5-40 lbs, occasionally heavier pieces. Equipment is available to assist the mechanic when heavy parts need to be moved. 
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
  • This position requires repetitive reaching, stretching, lifting and twisting.
  • Working conditions include some dust, noise, with restricted workspaces, but not to the point of being objectionable.
