Position Summary:
Massachusetts Bay Community College invites applicationsfor a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of AssistantProfessor of Cybersecurity from qualified applicants. The ideal candidate will join a vibranteducational community, and have a desire and ability to serve a population ofstudents with various needs and backgrounds. Faculty members are responsible for developing educational andevaluation materials consistent with National Center of Academic Excellence(NCAE) guidelines as well as the philosophy and framework of the program,MassBay Community College, and the Computer Science program in accordance withthe evolving needs of the STEM division.
The successful candidate will be comfortable offeringhands-on laboratory courses using current technologies, software, and tools.The highest priority topics of relevance for expertise in teaching arecybersecurity fundamentals, network security, and application security.Knowledge of incident response and forensics, penetration testing, securityoperations, emerging technologies and trends, and information securitymanagement is preferred. Teaching, advising, and mentoring are also expected tosupport students’ growth in technical interviewing, writing, and projectmanagement within the Cybersecurity domain. The successful candidate willemploy these areas of expertise toward the purpose of the Cybersecurityprogram, which is to provide a cybersecurity generalist foundation on whichlearners can narrow their focus moving forward in their careers, furthereducation, and/or continuing professional learning. The ideal applicant willpossess a strong understanding of the critical role community colleges play inworkforce development and in facilitating seamless transfer pathways tofour-year institutions, ensuring student success in higher education and careeradvancement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment tocollaboration and professional development. The successful candidate will helpthe Computer Science department and specifically the Cybersecurity programdevelop relevant courses and teaching strategies for students with variedinterests and learning styles to support student recruitment and retention. TheCybersecurity faculty member is responsible for maintaining their certificationto fulfill the ongoing needs of this position.
Courses may be held in the classroom at the Wellesleycampus (in-person), in the hybrid (with in-person lab session) or onlineenvironment. However, the candidate must be able to teach on campus as mostclasses are taught in-person on campus or hybrid. The candidate will have theopportunity to shape the curriculum and engage in recruitment ofunderrepresented students as well as community-based outreach activities usingthe College’s state-of-the-art Cyber Range.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Cybersecurity courses based on the need for each semester, which may include, but are not limited to the list found online in the academic catalog;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Work and collaborate effectively with a varied student body, faculty, and staff;
- Prepare course syllabi and develop curricula to meet course and program requirements and student learning outcomes;
- Serve as academic advisor to students, with expertise in advising and mentoring minoritized students;
- Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week;
- Participate in the improvement and development of academic programs and resources, designations, accreditation, articulation, and assessment of courses and programs;
- Collaborate on selecting, recommending, creating, and preparing suitable instructional materials, lab experiences, simulations, and demonstrations that utilize a wide variety of teaching methods and modalities;
- Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;
- Serve on College committees as elected or appointed;
- Attend program, division, and committee meetings;
- Assist the program and STEM Dean in recruiting qualified adjunct faculty as needed;
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning;
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computer Science from an accredited university;
- Post-secondary teaching experience;
- Relevant industry experience in Cybersecurity, or Information Technology with a focus on Cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology from an accredited university;
- Current cybersecurity-related certifications or licenses (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, Cisco security) or a commitment to pursuing these;
- Ability to adapt CompTIA training into the instruction of relevant courses;
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;
- Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
- Teaching experience at a community college;
- Two years of teaching experience in credit-bearing courses at the college level or equivalent industry training experience;
- Demonstrated versatility in teaching a range of courses offered in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Technology programs;
- Experience in curricular planning and assessment as well as practices, technologies, and inclusive pedagogy to enhance student learning;
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems;
- Experience with federal and/or state grants;
- Interest in and familiarity with workforce development needs in the regional community;
- Experience with outreach activities with K-12 schools.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $70,000- $80,000, in accordance with one'seducation and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreementclassification compensation structure.
