Job Summary:
This key functional position is a critical role within American Rheinmetall (AR) focusing on Cost Estimating to support the development, coordination and delivery of cost estimating data requirements. This role also closely supports the product development process by working with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program teams to establish Cost Targets for the development of subsystems and the vehicle end item. The Estimating team is responsible for creating cost estimates for all proposals, including full vehicles, spares and services.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop comprehensive estimates of labor, travel, non-recurring expenses, other direct costs, and material costs for defense manufacturing programs
  • Coordinate all activities related to quoting materials, parts, supplies or processes in response to customer request for quotes
  • Develop cost targets working with the Program Management Office, Business Development, and Supply Chain
  • Actively communicate with the appropriate stake holder for timing expectations in regards to the completion of quotes and proposals
  • Primarily responsible for the accumulation and support for large proposals, including drafting proposal pricing narratives (i.e. Cost Volumes) and accumulating pricing support data from subject matter experts within the American Rheinmetall organization
  • Assist the Estimating Manager and/or Director of Estimating in proposal audits
  • Analyze data and create summaries to aid management's review and evaluation of various elements within quotes and proposals
  • Perform cost comparisons to determine lowest/optimized costs by commodity/part number
  • Supports all repeat business as required with updated quoting data
  • Supports Launch Team after PO award by working with American Rheinmetall Purchasing and Engineering Teams to hand off costing data

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement
  • Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and Regulations as they pertain to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
  • Ability to present technical / commercial / contractual solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a variety of settings and be able to assimilate complex instructions easily.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff to establish productive relationships
  • Must possess the ability to explain complex concepts in a way that makes sense to someone less knowledgeable about the topic
  • Must demonstrate an enthusiasm to engage with and support overseas colleagues to ensure all staff have the information and opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities
  • Must promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to work effectively with the US team, suppliers, customer, and corporate parent staff
  • High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing "analysis" with "doing"
  • Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred, but Associate's degree (A.A.) in business or related manufacturing program from a two-year college with related work experience
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10-15 Years of Experience in performing cost estimates for complex US Defense programs, preferably in the vehicle domain from concept to serial production
  • Working knowledge of ProPricer
  • OEM estimating for full vehicles with experience using Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Statements of Work (SOW)
