Purchasing Intern

Job Summary:
Assists the Material department in the coordination of expediting flow of materials, parts and assemblies between departments as well as supporting the procurement/distribution of materials parts, equipment and supplies for the organization.
This internship is located at the American Rheinmetall Plymouth, MI location.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in monitoring and controlling movement of materials through the Plex ERP system.
  • Assists the Buyers of the (4) manufacturing plants in daily activities as necessary.
  • Compile and maintain manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
  • Assist in the coordination of all activities related to the procurement of a commodity starting with intent to purchase through delivery.
  • Will aid in the solicitation and evaluation of proposals for the requested commodity.
  • Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibility
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail in tracking certifications, orders, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Ability to assist with process improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ITAR regulations and supplier compliance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams.
Education & Experience
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
