As we continue to grow, we are looking for curious and motivated students who want to learn how the Informatics and Managed Services Team supports a scaling organization.

 

The GIS Intern will contribute to geospatial data processing, spatial analysis, and map production efforts that support organizational objectives. This position offers exposure to GIS platforms, data integration, and spatial modeling while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate and actionable geographic insights.

 

This intern will participate in the i2G Systems 2026 Summer Internship Program, a structured 10-week experience designed to provide meaningful, hands-on exposure to their role. In addition to gaining real-world experience, interns will have access to a series of dedicated program events focused on networking, professional development, and career growth. 



Responsibilities

What You'll Get to Work On

    Assist in collecting, cleaning, and maintaining geospatial datasets from internal and external sources 
    Support the creation and updating of maps, dashboards, and spatial visualizations 
    Perform basic spatial analysis (e.g., buffering, geocoding, spatial joins, proximity analysis) 
    Digitize features and edit spatial data to ensure accuracy and consistency 
    Assist in maintaining GIS databases and metadata documentation 
    Conduct quality control checks to verify data integrity and completeness 
    Support field data collection efforts using GPS-enabled devices or mobile GIS applications 
    Prepare map layouts and cartographic products for reports and presentations 
    Collaborate with analysts, planners, or technical teams to support project needs 
    Document workflows and assist in developing standard operating procedures 
    Research publicly available geospatial data sources and industry best practices 
    Provide general support for GIS software maintenance and troubleshooting 


Qualifications



What We're Looking For

    Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field 
    Coursework in GIS, cartography, spatial analysis, remote sensing, or geographic data management 
    Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or QGIS 
    Familiarity with spatial analysis tools (e.g., buffering, overlays, spatial joins, geocoding) 
    Basic understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geodatabases
