Role: IT Help Desk Specialist

This role proves best for analytical thinkers, computer science majors, and IT support professionals who enjoy structured problem-solving, systems logic, and optimizing technical environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend system, hardware, and software improvements.
  • Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and network systems.
  • Perform daily datacenter monitoring, validate logs, backups, and system integrity.
  • Manage IT purchasing workflows and maintain asset accuracy.
  • Develop clear, engineering-grade documentation (SOPs, configs, diagrams).
  • Deliver training that ensures repeatability and process stability.

  • Secure on-site networks and multi-facility connectivity
  • High-speed production and test systems
  • Mission-critical transformer manufacturing infrastructure
  • A facility undergoing major modernization following a $77M U.S. investment supporting automation and expanded capacity (Washington, MO)

Requirements:

Basic:

  • Education:
     
    • Associate degree (2-year) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical Skills: 
    • Strong knowledge of Windows-centric environments, PC hardware, and user-level troubleshooting. 
    • Skilled in Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, VMware, and Cisco network administration
    • Ability to troubleshoot system, software, and network-related issues and perform diagnostic tests. 
    • Ability to follow and enforce IT security policies, a common requirement across regulated employers. 
  • Professional Skills: 
    • Logical thinker, self-starter, well-organized, and customer-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
    • Able to produce clear documentation and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Ethics & Compliance: 
    • Ability to work within the WEG Code of Ethics & Values (4th Edition).
    • Must handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Legal Requirements: 
    • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship available for this role.
    • Must successfully complete an application, talent assessment, on-site interview, drug screen, and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing support in a multi-site, large user base environment
  • SAP end-user support experience. (WEG-specific operational preference.)
  • Experience in SQL Server, Windows Server, VMware, and Cisco network administration beyond basic proficiency.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or another enterprise ticketing/ITSM platform.
  • Demonstrated experience writing or improving documentation, SOPs, or knowledge-base articles.
  • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington, Missouri.
