Job Description
Basic Purpose
Responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems and equipment that directly affect the safety and operations of the power plant. Performs a wide variety of maintenance functions, such as insulating, painting, lubricating, carpentry; mechanical maintenance and repair of power plant equipment. Maintains power plant equipment in a safe and environmental compliant standard. Maintains and calibrates all type of electrical, DCS, PLC and pneumatic control systems used in the production of electric and steam power.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoots and corrects mechanical problems and malfunctions
Performs skilled instrument, electrical and mechanical work
Installs, maintains and operates power plant and building equipment
Performs electrical maintenance including heat tracing, motor replacement, lighting fixture and lighting circuit maintenance
Assists in the administration and oversight of contractors conducting plant maintenance, warehousing activities and building and grounds maintenance.
Assists in the operation, preventive maintenance, and cleanup of equipment to maintain a safe work area.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
High School Diploma and 3-5 years of power plant operations experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of the: operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers and related mechanical equipment; occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work; automated boiler and chiller controls and electrical and pneumatic controls.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
May require employees to be exposed to hazardous work environments, and to work outdoors, as well as in an office; to work in an environment that involves exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes, as well as odors and loud noises. Require an employee to bend, stoop, reach, or stand for extended periods or to move heavy objects.
