Summary
The Specialist I, Leave of Absence & Workers Compensation is responsible for the daily support of the companys Leave of Absences (LOA) including, but not limited to Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), bereavement, jury duty, military duty, personal leaves and Pilot Medical Leaves and Workers Compensation program as well as Affordable Care Act (ACA) activities. This position will serve as support for LOA & Workers Compensation for Team Members, managers, and third-party vendors. In addition, the Specialist I will administer leaves in accordance with company policy while ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.

Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education: Bachelors Degree
Education Details: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Years of Experience: Minimum one (1) year of Worker's Compensation, ACA Compliance or Leave of Absence experience, airline industry preferred
Preferred Requirements
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including database and spreadsheet programs
Proven project management and analytical skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Able to provide pleasant customer service while balancing the needs to influence team members to comply with LOA and WC requirements
Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment, and a positive attitude toward teamwork
Willingness to assist managers, staff, and government agencies with the highest level of professionalism
Ability to handle numerous projects at one time and meet deadlines
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Working knowledge of data analysis processes and procedures
Minimal travel as required
Job Duties
Handles all questions and requests for LOA and directs Team Members to available resources, policies and procedures
Establish and maintain close working relationships and coordinate information sharing with functional groups such as payroll, benefits, crew services, In-Flight, Flight Operations, Maintenance and Stations
Facilitates back to work program by coordinating modified duty assignments
Update Human Resources Information System (HRIS) with LOA & Workers Compensation data on a timely basis
Provide direction to Team Members regarding short-term and long-term disability benefits
Complete employer short-term disability intake forms received from disability insurance vendor
Generate and monitor invoices for Team Members who owe insurance premiums due to a leave of absence
Create and distribute LOA reports to the appropriate departments
Monitor and assist Team Members as LOA ends and Team Members return to work
Serve as back-up for other Team Members by cross-training in benefits and wellness
Other duties/projects as assigned

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
