Overview
The Monographic Acquisitions Unit, part of Library Finance & Acquisitions Services at Princeton University Library, is seeking a Senior Bibliographic Specialist dedicated to providing high-level support for processing requests, ordering, and receiving library resources, in all formats and all languages. The position requires an individual who is able to work accurately and quickly, with a high degree of independent judgment, and capable of prioritizing assignments and performing under the pressure of deadlines.
Responsibilities
The Senior Bibliographic Specialist is responsible for the entire range of acquisition tasks, performing duties that include preorder searching, order creation, invoicing, follow-up on orders, receiving, copy cataloging, charging, and all final processing steps intended to facilitate access to library materials.
Qualifications
Requirements include:
- Minimum of 1 year of library experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience that demonstrates critical thinking and communication skills required for this position.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work accurately and thoroughly with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize assignments.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the publishing and book trade industry.
- Good technical literacy and computer skills that include experience with Windows file management, Microsoft Office applications, word processing, and email skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team environment.
- Ability to do sustained work at a computer workstation most of the day, and physically able to move library materials from shelves to book trolleys and vice versa.
Preference will be given to individuals with a working knowledge of library technical services, specifically the acquisition-to-cataloging process.
