Position Description

Job Summary

All States Materials Group is seeking a dependable Asphalt Raker to support paving operations by spreading, leveling, and smoothing hot asphalt material prior to rolling. This position plays a critical role in ensuring proper mat depth, grade, and finish quality while maintaining a strong focus on safety and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Spread, rake, and level hot asphalt to specified depth and grade
  2. Assist paver operator to ensure consistent material flow and smooth mat appearance
  3. Shovel and lute asphalt around curbs, joints, iron strcutures and tight areas
  4. Maintain proper line, grade, and surface finish
  5. Work closely with screed operators, roller operators, and laborers
  6. Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
  7. Perform general labor duties as required during paving operations
  8. Maintain tools and keep job site clean and organized

Compensation & Regulatory Compliance

  1. Prevailing Wage: When assigned to projects subject to prevailing wage requirements, employees will be compensated in accordance with applicable federal, state, or local prevailing wage laws.


Position Requirements

Qualifications

  1. Prior experience in asphalt paving or roadway construction preferred
  2. Ability to understand grades, slopes, and paving tolerances
  3. Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  4. Ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
  5. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  6. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  1. While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, touch/feel objects, reach with hands & arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl, see, hear, talk & listen.
  2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with assistance) and 50 pounds (without assistance).
  3. While performing duties of this job, employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
