Position Description:Position Description

AMC Masonry- Mason/ Bricklayer

Summary:

The Bricklayer will construct, erect, install, and repair structures using brick, block, stone, and other masonry materials.



Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Builds leads plum and levels at the proper height for coursing of units being used
  2. Reads drawings and provides layout of walls, openings, embedded items, etc.
  3. Establishes proper bond pattern for units being installed
  4. Lays out and installs masonry grout and rebar per job requirements
  5. Lays out and installs steel bearing plates
  6. Calculates angles for rakes and cuts/installs masonry units to match
  7. Installs masonry units to the line in a productive manner
  8. Grinds out, chisels, or otherwise removes weathered, damaged or defective mortar joints and installs new mortar (tuckpointing)
  9. Power washes finish masonry units clean by use of pressure washer and masonry cleaning detergent/acid
  10. Rubs, scrapes, and patches finished masonry walls
  11. Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
  12. Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  1. High School Diploma or GED required
  2. Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform mason duties
  3. 10 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
  4. Good eyesight with or without correction
  5. Ability to lift heavy objects in a repetitive manner
  6. Ability to work at heights without fear including work on scaffolding and ladders
  7. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  8. Ability to use equipment and tools safely
  9. Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
  10. Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
  11. Ability to read building blueprints
  12. Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may at times require overnight stays away from home
  13. Excellent communication skills
