Department Overview

Occupational Health is a section of Human Resources Division dedicated to the promotion and protection of the health, safety, and well-being of OHSU employees, visitors, and volunteers. The department provides services and programs to address and prevent workplace hazards, as well as, providing resources to promote total worker health. The Hospital Aide is a vital member of the team assisting in operational needs and services throughout the department.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical and Program Support

  • Assist in clinic services such as respirator fit, color vision testing, and other duties as trained.
  • Accurate documentation of all testing procedures in EMR system.
  • Adheres to infection prevention
  • Assists in conducting standard precautions, education and training.

 

Administrative Support

  • Responds to/triages emails, phone calls, and in person queries.
  • Daily data entry and maintenance of EMR system.
  • Assists in clinic operations such as ordering and organizing supplies, restocking and maintaining workstations.
  • Project and logistical support for all department programs as appropriately trained.

Other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Reads, writes, and speaks fluent English
  • Must be able to effectively utilize oral and written communication with staff, customers, and stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Ability to learn and use electronic record systems and devices
  • Ability to develop standard operating procedures and follow proper protocol
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation(s)
  • Basic understanding of OHSU University Hospital and clinic policies and procedures or EMR experience
  • Computer and Microsoft office experience

Additional Details
  • This is an in-person position, Monday – Friday 0800 – 1630.
  • Direct patient contact. 
  • Frequent need to sit and stand for extended periods of time.  Frequent twisting from the waist to reach supplies and/or patient charts.  Frequent need to walk around patient waiting area and facility to obtain supplies and/or locate staff.  Occasional need to lift under 50 lbs.
