The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering is a multifaceted program offering a strong educational experience steeped in a variety of research areas. The Department offers a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, a doctorate degree, and a graduate level certificate. The Department incorporates 10 full time tenure track faculty, 2 full time non-tenure track faculty, 4 full time staff, and various talented adjunct and affiliated research faculty.
Position Summary
The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at Portland State University invites local, qualified candidates to serve as adjunct instructors in the following specialty areas: Design & Manufacturing and Thermal & Fluids Science. These are part-time positions.

Adjunct instructors must be qualified to teach one or more of the following courses. See the PSU Bulletin for course descriptions:

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field. Work experience and/or teaching experience aligned with course content may be used in lieu of degree, at the Department’s discretion.

Must live in Oregon or Washington
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience, preferred. PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field, preferred.

CompensationAdjuncts are paid per credit hour, and are hired on either a per term or an academic year basis, per the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement.
