Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Student Engagement & Retention
Pitt-Bradford is seeking an experienced and student-centered campus leader to serve as Associate Dean of Student Affairs for Student Engagement & Retention. This is a full-time 12-month position reporting directly to the Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs.
Job Summary
Supports the advancement of the University’s goals of student success and retention through overseeing programs and assessing involvement. Leads team and serves as liaison between internal units. Ensures compliance of programming with policies and procedures and assists in determining impact of student engagement opportunities.
Essential Functions
Leading Student Engagement & Retention
- Strengthens campus culture by partnering with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Athletics to build a welcoming and inclusive community
- Assists campus leaders in developing and implementing a comprehensive student retention plan aligned with Pitt-Bradford’s Strategic Plan and serves as a key advisor on student success trends and opportunities
- Leads initiatives and programs to support and foster a sense of belonging for first-generation and limited-income students
- Coordinates First Year Experience initiatives and serves as a primary liaison to campus partners regarding student retention and success efforts
Supporting Student Success & Well-Being
- Engages students and leads cross-functional initiatives to promote student engagement, well-being, and sense of belonging
- Ensures engagement and global initiatives are inclusive, accessible, and strategically aligned with institutional goals, with particular attention to reducing barriers for first-generation and limited-income students
- Uses assessment and student feedback to strengthen program quality and impact, contributing an equity-minded perspective to campus-wide initiatives
- Represents Student Affairs on institutional committees, working groups, and special projects
- Serves as a key member of the Student Affairs Leadership team and contributes as a strategic thought partner to the Vice President & Dean of Student Affairs
- Leads cross-functional initiatives to enhance the goals of Student Affairs, with a visible campus presence including evenings and weekends as needed
Overseeing the Work of the Office
- Supervises the Director of Student Engagement, who oversees student government, Greek life, student activities council, and campus-wide programming
- Supervises the Coordinator of Global Engagement, who manages global engagement efforts, study abroad, affinity student organizations, and campus-wide programming
- Supervises administrative staff who provide logistical, fiscal, and office support to students, student organizations, and student engagement staff
Physical Effort
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Requirements:
Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field, along with five (5) years of professional experience in Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration required. Experience working with first-generation and limited-income students, supervising professional staff, and building collaborative partnerships with faculty, administrators, and community partners.
