The Award Activation Budget Coordinator is responsible for developing accurate and compliant activation budgets for all new and continuing awards. This role interprets Notice of Award (NOA) terms and translates them into budget structures that align with University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, and sponsor policies. The coordinator works closely with faculty, division administrators, and pre- & post award administrators to confirm personnel, commitments, and costing details. In addition, this position serves as a departmental resource on budget principles and supports standardization efforts, including the development of templates and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and consistency of the award activation workflow.

  • Develop award activation budgets for all new and continuing awards
  • Translate NoA terms into compliant and accurate budget structures
  • Collaborate directly with faculty, division administrators, and post-award administrators to confirm budget details.
  • Ensure alignment with University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, and sponsor policies
  • Serve as a knowledge resource for budget principles within RSS and DoMRA
  • Support process standardization and development of templates to increase efficiency
  • Operate as an activation liaison across Pre-Award, Post-Award, faculty, and division staff.

Maintains award-related schedules, prepares complex government applications and reports, and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, performs internal audits, resolves complex issues, and reviews routine financial documents. Develops and implements accounting techniques and procedures for operational improvements and assists with managing special projects and preparing operating budgets.
