The Assistant Director, Event Productions within Student Unions will be responsible for ensuring all audio-visual needs of clients are met. This position will report to the Director of Student Unions and will supervise 3 full-time Audio-Visual Technicians, student managers and student employees This individual will meet with clients to discuss and determine technical needs for events as well as oversee proper delivery and operation of these items. Must have extensive knowledge on a wide range of technical (audio/visual) equipment such as projectors, sound systems, lighting and be proficient in live audio mixing. Routinely is responsible for overseeing and schedule the staff that will cover setup and operations of technical equipment used for events. Ensures that equipment (audio, video, lighting) is working properly and to the satisfaction of the client for the duration of assigned events. Will be responsible for ordering, replacing and suggesting updates to equipment to improve the client experience. This position will also assist with hiring, training and supervising student employees as well as assist with equipment maintenance, installation and inventory management.

Oversees all aspects of audio visual equipment and supervises team. Creates organizational system for equipment, recordings, and files. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets and prepares related reports. Monitors and adjusts equipment and usage.


Essential Functions

• Oversees all aspects of audio visual equipment, including the overall operation, configuration, and maintenance of audio visual equipment.
• Creates, facilitates, and maintains organizational systems for equipment, recordings, and archival files. Trains staff on systems to ensure adherence.
• Supervises staff, including hiring, distributing and reviewing work, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration. Manages work schedules and approves timecards. Provides professional development opportunities.
• Maintains budgetary adherence; assists in budget development. Prepares timely reports.
• Adjusts equipment as necessary; performs editing and other audio visual preparations.
• Monitors equipment and usage. Suggests improvements as related.


Physical Effort

Heavy physical effort required. Requires extensive standing, moving, ascend/descend, bending, lifting, and/or carrying. May be required to move objects over 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment. Will be required to move between multiple buildings to complete set up of audio visual equipment, may including bending, reaching, lifting or moving of equipment. Access points may need to be reached using a ladder or step stool.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.

Hiring Range: $24.10 - $25.64 per hour
