The Center for Excellence in Digital Education (Pitt EDGE) is looking for a Director of Marketing. This position provides strategic and creative leadership for the university’s online and graduate education marketing and promotional efforts. It will work closely with the Director of Digital Marketing and the Directors of Recruitment and Enrollment, this role is responsible for setting the creative vision, messaging framework, and promotional priorities that support enrollment goals and institutional brand standards.

Job Summary

Directs marketing and communications strategies and outreach within a business unit and adheres to University vision, strategy, branding, and guiding principles. Develops communication tools and marketing plans to support goals and strategic direction. Researches and analyzes trends to identify new markets.


Essential Functions
  • Lead the creative and promotional strategy for Pitt Online, ensuring compelling, student-centered storytelling and consistent brand expression across all marketing materials.
  • Oversee the development of creative assets and advertising concepts across digital, print, social media, web site and other promotional channels.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to content contributors, including organic social media coordination, content writing, storytelling, and related creative roles.
  • Establish and maintain messaging frameworks, creative standards, and content priorities to guide all marketing and recruitment materials.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Marketing to align creative direction with campaign strategy, targeting, and channel execution.
  • Partner with the Directors of Recruitment and Enrollment to ensure marketing and promotional efforts support recruitment priorities and enrollment outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of creative and promotional materials using data and analytics; recommend refinements to improve effectiveness. Communicate these findings with program and University leadership.
  • Co-manage the marketing budget, prioritizing creative and promotional investments that deliver measurable impact.
  • Serve as a steward of the Pitt Online brand, ensuring consistency with university brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and inclusive communication practices.
  • Encourage and support the responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to enhance creative development, storytelling, personalization, and marketing workflows
