The Trivedi Institute for Space and Global Biomedicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Research Technician Level 2. The ideal candidate will have experience in Space Biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, and Radiation Biology and be enthusiastic about contributing to cutting-edge research in the Space Biomedicine Program.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Essential Functions
• Perform computational analysis on omics data.
• Conduct laboratory experiments including histology, immunostaining, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, live cell imaging, fluorescent 3D microscopy, cell culture
• Prepare specimens and ensure conformity to specifications.
• Manage supply ordering, procurement, tracking, and receiving.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration, cleaning, and sterility testing.
• Ability to participate in manuscript writing and contribute intellectually to experimental designs.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely data and lab notebooks, Laboratory information management systems (LIMS), organizing and documenting results.
Physical Effort
Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification: Qualifications: • Bachelor of Sciences in Biology, Bioinformatics and related fields with experience in mammalian/human biology • Experience in radiation biology and space biology • Experience in Health Sciences • Experience with computational tools for omics analysis microdissection, immunostaining, fluorescent microscopy, DNA/RNA extraction and library preparation for sequencing, and cell culture.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Work Arrangement: On-Campus: Teams that work on campus, in an office, or in a lab.
Hiring Range: $17.74 - $23.50 per hour
