The Aging Institute within the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Business Administration Supervisor to support its mission of understanding how and why we age and translating these discoveries into new therapies for age-related diseases https://aging.pitt.edu/. The Aging Institute is comprised of 13 independent research laboratories and a central administrative team, where this position will be based. The Business Administration Supervisor will be responsible for account management, account reconciliation, and expense monitoring; managing monthly billing activities for the recharge center; approving purchase orders and executing vendor agreements; and developing and implementing business methods, procedures, and reporting to improve operational efficiency. This role will also train Institute personnel on purchasing, contracts, agreements, and expense reporting to ensure compliance with University policies and grant regulations, as well as establish and maintain administrative databases.
Job Summary
Supervises the day-to-day business operations of a small University academic unit. Enacts short- and long-range plans. Improves overall efficiencies, negotiates and approves agreements, and facilitates human resources actions.
Essential Functions
Being able to effectively communicate via written and verbal communication. Ability to stay organized with strong mathematical skills to support financial tasks consisting of accounting and purchasing. Provide daily support to all faculty and staff. Being able to work in a team setting as well as working independently.
Physical Effort
Must be able to move swiftly between office spaces; be able to lift and carry 15 pounds.
