This position is housed within the University of Pittsburgh, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health.

The Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health offers personalized, experiential training for future professional counselors and prepares graduates to address complex challenges faced by individuals across cultures, across the lifespan, and living with disabilities and behavioral health conditions. The position is embedded full-time at the Commonwealth Technical Institute at the Hiram G. Andrews Center (CTI at HGAC) in Johnstown, PA. CTI at HGAC provides vocational training and comprehensive rehabilitation services to individuals across the state of PA. Through an intergovernmental agency agreement, the University of Pittsburgh develops, implements, and operates clinical programs at HGAC, including the Cognitive Skills Enhancement Program (CSEP). The goal of CSEP is to improve employment outcomes for transition-aged individuals with cognitive disabilities by increasing awareness of strengths, limitation, and impact of disability through development of social-emotional and executive-functioning skills.
Job Summary
Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical counseling, psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation and/or behavioral health services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a diverse population of students/clients utilizing specialized techniques to foster development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Facilitates comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and/or case reviews.
Essential Functions
-Provide evidence-based individual and group counseling, psychotherapy, and cognitive rehabilitation services.
-Assess, conceptualize, and intervene around the functional impact of cognitive and mental/behavioral health disabilities.
-Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary clinical and rehabilitation team.
-Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
-Communicate effectively with clients, families, staff, referral sources, and partner agencies.
-Supervise and mentor student-employees and interns.
-Support program development, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
-Adhere to ethical, professional, and regulatory standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Services
-Provide individual and group clinical assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, and cognitive rehabilitation within the Cognitive Skills Enhancement Program (CSEP) Tier I.
-Provide consultative and direct clinical support to CSEP Tier II and Tier III services.
-Provide clinical services within Pre-Employment Transition Services (PETS) programming.
-Complete timely and precise clinical documentation, including treatment notes, summaries, and reports.
Program Support & Development
-Maintain and coordinate individual and group rehabilitation and behavioral health programming in collaboration with CTI and HGAC staff.
-Participate in the development, revision, and evaluation of evidence-based clinical programming.
-Communicate program needs and outcomes to supervisors, colleagues, and partner agencies.
-Prepare program summaries, outcome reports, and other written documentation as required.
Supervision, Instruction, & Consultation
-The clinician works independently while being supervised by the CSEP Program Coordinator.
-Participate in individual and group supervision with team members.
-Provide supervision and training to student-employees and interns.
-Regular interaction with rehabilitation professionals, educators, clinical providers, referral sources, and client families is required.
-Provide technical assistance to HGAC academic, counseling, and administrative staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Master's degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
-Strong background in evidence-based clinical intervention, assessment, and service provision for individuals with cognitive and mental/behavioral health disabilities.
-Experience providing individual and group counseling and/or psychotherapy.
-Demonstrated ability to conduct clinical assessment, case conceptualization, and functional intervention.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to maintain confidential records and comply with ethical and legal standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience.
-Relevant Certification or Certification-eligible: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); National Certified Counselor (NCC); Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors (CCMHC).
-Relevant Licensure or Licensure-eligible: PA Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
-Experience working in vocational rehabilitation, postsecondary transition, or interdisciplinary rehabilitation settings.
-Experience supervising students or interns.
Physical Effort
This is an in-person position located at the Commonwealth Technical Institute at the Hiram G. Andrews Center (CTI at HGAC) in Johnstown, PA. Daily on-campus presence at CTI at HGAC required.
Sedentary position with on-site clinical service delivery. Must be able to navigate a large building.
