Life Science Research Technician

The Li Lab at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated Life Science Research Professional. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a willingness to learn new technologies. A BS degree in a related scientific field is required, previous laboratory experience preferred. in this role, your responsibilities will include processing human samples, managing the mouse colony, working with mouse cancer models, cell culture, performing immunological assays (e.g., flow cytometry), and participating in cutting-edge technologies such as single cell RNA-seq, TCR-seq, and ATAC-seq. Your work will be central to several major research projects, and co-authorship on high-impact publications is expected. Job Duties:

Independently conducting experiments after training, while maintaining detailed records of experiments and their outcomes.

Applying the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and analyze experimental results.

Regularly reviewing scientific literature to stay up-to-date with new procedures and applying relevant knowledge to ongoing research.

Contributing to the publication of research findings as necessary, and actively participating in the preparation of written documents, such as procedures, presentations, and proposals.

Assisting with general lab maintenance as required, including managing lab stock, maintaining chemical inventory and safety records, and providing overall lab support.

Assisting in orienting and training new staff or students on lab procedures and techniques.

Job Summary

Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
