The University of Pittsburgh Department of Plastic Surgery is hiring a research assistant to work in the CranioLab at UPMC Children's Hospital. The ideal candidate will contribute to studies in pediatric craniofacial surgery, with a primary focus on craniosynostosis outcomes and cleft care access. This role includes retrospective data collection, IRB-approved chart review, database management and manuscript development across several active projects. The lab's overarching goal is to improve diagnostic precision and equitable access to care for children with craniofacial conditions.
Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Essential Functions
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working within a team to develop clinical research methodology within a pediatric surgical setting
- Working hands-on with IRB protocol compliance and multi-institutional data governance
- Contributing to manuscript development and abstract preparation for peer-reviewed publication
- Working with AI/deep learning applications in craniofacial surgery
