Job Description Summary:The VESTED and NovaEdge program director is hiring a graduate assistant to provide support with the administration of both of these STEM programs. Both programs are for high school pre-college students.

This year the NovaEdge summer program will be on campus and the expectation is that the VESTED program will occur on campus for seven Saturdays during the Spring of 2027 and 2028. There is also hope that the NovaEdge program will be on campus the Summer of 2026 and 2027.
The graduate student will provide guidance and monitor the high school students who participate in both programs. The graduate student will also manage the Villanova volunteers and resident assistants who assist with the services delivered by each program.

The Graduate Assistantship is for 20 hours per week supporting with research as assigned. The GA is paid a stipend and tuition remission. The position begins on June 1, 2026.Requirements:
  • Priority will be given to graduate students who will be on campus pursuing their graduate degree for two years.
  • Eligibility is limited to full-time students admitted for graduate degree programs.
  • A GA must be enrolled in at least one course during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Additional Information:NovaEdge Diversity in Engineering is a one-week, on-campus program to introduce a diverse population of students from different ethnic and social backgrounds to the traditional fields of engineering, including Chemical, Civil and Environmental, Computer and Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Students also will be introduced to unique aspects of Villanova’s College of Engineering, which include international service learning, Sustainable Engineering and Engineering Entrepreneurship. Lectures and hands-on laboratory experiments are taught by Villanova Engineering faculty, and daily guest speakers will bridge academia and industry. During the evening, students will enjoy fun and engaging activities with resident assistants and also work on any assigned engineering projects.

The Villanova Engineering, Science and Technology Enrichment and Development (VESTED) program serves two primary purposes: 1) Introduces these fields to students in under-resourced communities and schools; and 2) Reaches and inspires those students who have the potential to expand our region’s and nation’s pool of future engineers. VESTED provides students with the experience, skills and incentives to succeed in high school, transition to college, and then into the engineering and technology industry – fields which traditionally are not employing diverse populations. Seven Saturdays from January to March, Villanova faculty, staff and students mentor these students from under resourced communities and schools from Philadelphia and the surrounding communities.
