Job Description:

The Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition at Roger Williams University invites applications for a renewable appointment at the rank of Lecturer, to begin Fall 2026. We deliver a two-semester general education writing program with a focus on academic, professional, and public writing. We are particularly interested in candidates with commitments to first-year writing. There may also be additional opportunities to teach outside the department in the first-year and senior- seminar general education program.

All candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching, a commitment to culturally responsive pedagogies, a willingness to maintain disciplinary currency, and the ability to serve at the department, institution and/or community levels. Teaching load is 4/4.

Review of applications will begin in mid-March, with interviews conducted in April.





Job Requirements:

Significant teaching experience in first-year composition or other general education writing courses. Ph.D. with specialization in rhetoric and composition preferred, ABD considered. 

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
