Job Description:

An undergraduate student working on this project will assist with the development and testing of AI-optimized terahertz negative curvature fiber sensors for early breast cancer detection. The student will help compile and organize simulation datasets, and analyze relationships between fiber design parameters and sensor performance. Depending on the student's background, responsibilities may also include assisting with COMSOL-based electromagnetic simulations, and preparing optimized sensor designs for 3D printing. Through this work, the student will gain hands-on experience in biomedical sensing, terahertz photonics, AI-assisted engineering design, numerical electromagnetic simulation, experimental measurements, data analysis, and scientific communication.

Job functions/characteristics

 Assist with organizing simulation data and analyzing relationships between sensor design parameters and performance metrics.

Help with sensor simulation, 3D-printing preparation, data collection, and documentation under supervision.

Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented in completing assigned research tasks.

Willing to learn new skills in electromagnetic simulation, terahertz sensing, 3D printing, and experimental measurements.

Able to work both independently and collaboratively while following laboratory safety procedures and research instructions.





Job Requirements:

Current undergraduate student in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related STEM field.

Basic familiarity with at least one of the following areas: data analysis, electromagnetic theory, 3D printing, programming or laboratory measurements.

Ability to follow instructions, work safely in a laboratory environment, document work clearly, and participate in regular research meetings.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
