Job Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director, HousingWorks RI, the Senior Research Manager is responsilbe for managing all aspects of research and data analysis to inform public policy and promote dialogue about the relationship between housing and the state's economic future. The Senior Research Manager works in close partnership with all other HousingWorks RI affiliates, members of the Roger Williams University community, as well as internal and external partners, and policy organizations. 

Research and Policy 
Research and write reports including the annual HWRI housing fact book, issue briefs and special reports on housing, and website blogs.

Manage all analysis of housing and economic data to support development of HWRI publications.

Make public presentations to local, state, and federal constituency groups, policymakers and the media.

Oversee all research and policy fellows and interns engaged with HousingWorks RI and the Latino Policy Institute.

Collaborate with faculty on research and data analysis.

Guest lecture at courses at the University, as required.

Serve as spokesperson on complex data analysis when necessary.

Engage Advisory Board members in the research conducted at HousingWorks RI.

Fund Development 
Identify potential funding sources to support HWRI research.

Work with Institutional Advancement to assist in writing grant proposals and nurture potential funders.

Identify internal and external collaboration opportunities for national research grants.

Assist the Director, HousingWorks in writing any reports/evaluations required by funders. 

Additional Functions 
Support all activities associated with the University.

Participate in committees and other projects, activities, or assignments as directed. 

This is a grant-funded position that is contingent upon the existence and availability of external funding.  





Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Five years' related work experience in policy analysis and research.

Five years' experience in managing a team of interns and consultants in a collaborative environment.

Ability and experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Expertise with Rhode Island and federal data sources, and US Census reports (American Community Survey, PUMS Files, Decennial Census, Population Estimates program, Manufacturing, Construction and Mining Statistics, Housing Survey, and others).

Demonstrated strong analytical and statistical skills and experience with statistical applications such as DataFerrett, SAS, and/or SPSS.

Ability to translate data, statistical information, and concepts into graphical representations.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Advanced skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 

Preferred Qualifications 
Master's degree in a related field.

Experience with social media and use of the web as a communications tool.

Experience communicating effectively with a diverse group including peers, senior officials, and members of the media.

Knowledge of how housing policy intersects with other issue areas such as education, health, and the economy.
