Qualifications
RS&H is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation Group in Charleston or Columbia, SC! As a Transportation Engineer, you will:
- Lead roadway/highway design, analysis, and plans production for conventional and design-build projects across South Carolina.
- Work closely with teams on projects for clients such as SCDOT, county, and municipal agencies, while contributing to innovative solutions that support the state’s infrastructure growth.
- Manage tasks related to project deliverables, including specifications, estimates, and reports, while ensuring they meet project timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate on complex, multidiscipline projects through cross-office workshare, gaining exposure to projects across regional and national markets.
- Support business development and marketing efforts to help expand our transportation practice.
- Prepare and compile project specifications, perform design and impact analyses, and develop complete project documents.
- Coordinate project efforts with key task leaders and staff to ensure ongoing communication and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Perform field reviews and observations of construction projects to enhance your understanding of design applications and construction practices.
- Ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle and contribute innovative solutions to solve design and engineering challenges.
- Stay informed of federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and criteria while maintaining professional registration and licensure.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff, as needed.
- Join a growing team with expanding projects throughout South Carolina and the Carolinas, while contributing to workshare initiatives across multiple regions.
- Take on diverse and exciting projects that span local, regional, and national markets.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency in production software and construction document production.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Experience with Microstation, InRoads, OpenRoads, Bluebeam REVU is a plus.
