Responsibilities
This individual will be part of the Environmental Stewardship and Resiliency (ESR) market segment providing environmental stewardship, sustainability, and resilience planning, permitting, and consulting services to Aviation, Transportation, Municipal and private clients nationally. As a member of RS&H's ESR team, you will identify and integrate solutions into our client's infrastructure and operations that make them more sustainable and resilient. In addition, this mid-level consultant position will help manage clients and projects, contribute to business development, and mentor junior consultants.
Qualifications
RS&H is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Water Resources (Hydraulics/Hydrology) Engineer to join our growing transportation team in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you will support the planning, analysis, and design of drainage systems for roadway and bridge projects, including stormwater management, culvert and bridge hydraulics, erosion control, and floodplain studies. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, preparation of design plans and reports, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions for state and local clients, including SCDOT. The ideal candidate has a strong academic foundation in civil engineering with a focus on water resources, proficiency or interest in modeling software such as HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS, and a desire to grow professionally while contributing to impactful infrastructure projects across South Carolina.
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Have a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have awareness of applicable federal, state and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.
- Possess basic knowledge of production software.
- Have a passion for engineering and a willingness to grow and learn.
- Possess solid oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passed FE
- Ability to obtain SC PE in 4 years
