Job Summary


The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, are seeking a physiatrist (MD/DO) with interests in spine, sports, and musculoskeletal medicine for our growing department. Individual will provide general rehabilitation services within the UPMC Rehabilitation Network and have consultative and outpatient role for patients with spine, sports and musculoskeletal needs, as well as provide teaching in the residency and fellowship programs. Our expanding programs within an integrated healthcare delivery and finance system offer unique opportunities for value-based care and boast a collaborative environment with other sub-specialties to ensure comprehensive approaches to patient wellness. Candidate must be board certified/eligible in PM&R and successfully demonstrate strong organizational, communication, teaching, and leadership skills. Clinical and academic track appointments are available, and the position is well supported by superb staff and facilities.

We are looking for physiatrists to help expand our capacity to care for spine and musculoskeletal disorders, including using innovative, multidisciplinary clinics that focus on comprehensive care and follow population health models.

This position will be responsible for providing general rehabilitation services within the UPMC Rehabilitation Network and have consultative and outpatient role for patients with spine, sports and musculoskeletal needs, as well as provide teaching in the residency and fellowship programs.

In addition to the qualifications above:

- Appointment at the Associate Professor level generally requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and scholarly productivity demonstrated in research, teaching, and/or administrative leadership and service.

- Appointment at the full Professor level generally requires a minimum of 10 years of experience and ability to demonstrate the attainment of superior stature and national/international reputation in their field of knowledge.

- Applicant with less than 5 years of experience would be considered for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.

Clinically based non-tenure track options are available. For appointment in the tenure stream, evidence of scholarly productivity is required, including teaching and academic service, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition. The primary requirement for conferral of tenure is an outstanding record of sustained independent scholarship across the various activities listed above.
