- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and established internal controls.
- Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition principles, including reviewing customer contracts, identifying performance obligations, supporting revenue schedules, and ensuring accurate and timely revenue reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss reports to support management decision-making and financial transparency.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness while supporting external audit and tax preparation processes.
- Partner cross-functionally with Program Management, Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure accurate contract interpretation, billing alignment, and consistent application of revenue recognition policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance documentation, and strengthen internal controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- 7-10+ years of accounting experience, including experience applying ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting concepts.
- Experience working with general ledger systems and financial reporting tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Concur, and Tipalti preferred
This role is not remote and requires employees to work onsite in the office five days a week to Avathon's Austin or Pleasanton office locations.
