Role Summary

The Assistant Controller supports the Corporate Controller in overseeing corporate accounting and the month-end close in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. This role plays a critical leadership role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and developing the accounting team.

The Assistant Controller serves as a key liaison to external auditors and cross-functional stakeholders and is expected to operate with a strong SOX mindset in a multi-entity, decentralized, deadline-driven environment.



Position_Description :

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  2. Manage and oversee the Corporate AP process (payments, review of approval flows).
  3. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and support schedules.
  4. Prepare consolidated financial statements consisting of 15+ entities.
  5. Assist with preparation and review of SEC reporting schedules (10-K, 10-Q, earnings support, tie-outs).
  6. Prepare internal management reporting packages, including variance explanations.
  7. Ensure accounting treatment complies with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
  8. Support the monthly forecast and annual budgeting process.
  9. Support design, documentation, and execution of SOX controls over financial reporting.
  10. Review control evidence and ensure timely remediation of control deficiencies.
  11. Coordinate walkthroughs, testing, and audit PBC requests with internal and external auditors.
  12. Ensure strong controls over:
  13. Journal entries
  14. Account reconciliations
  15. Financial reporting spreadsheets
  16. Segregation of duties
  17. Manage stock compensation, treasury stock, and other equity-related schedules.
  18. Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and close timelines.
  19. Supporting role with acquisitions to identify and coordinate accounting processes, where needed.
  20. Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff by providing technical guidance and coaching.


Position Requirements :

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  2. 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  3. Experience in a public company environment
  4. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX
  5. Experience managing month-end close in a multi-entity, decentralized environment

Preferred

  1. Public accounting experience
  2. CPA
  3. Experience in the construction industry with knowledge of POC accounting
  4. ERP and consolidation system experience (Viewpoint, OneStream, or similar)
  5. Prior people management experience
  6. ASC 842 lease accounting experience
  7. Stock compensation accounting knowledge
