Responsibilities
While RS&H was founded in 1941, we have been providing construction management services as one of our primary business practices since 1984. RS&H’s Transportation-Construction Management Practice serves numerous state departments of transportation, mobility/transportation authorities, turnpike/toll authorities, rail/port authorities, municipal/county governments, and private clients throughout the United States. Our Construction Engineering and Inspections (CEI) teams as well as our Construction Management teams are industry leading experts who provide a full range of construction engineering, program management, specialized testing, and inspection services from the preconstruction phase through maintenance and operations. Qualifications
We are seeking a Field Engineer for our Transportation-Construction Management team in the Tyler, TX area. The Field Engineer will help manage the field inspection of roadway and bridge transportation projects, prepare and submit progress and final estimates, check engineering calculations, interpret contract documents, draft engineering solutions in MicroStation for contractors and owners, and oversee contractors to ensure projects are built within reasonable plan and specification conformity. This position will work on road and bridge projects for transportation owners, including the Texas Department of Transportation. You will work as part of a project-specific team and be part of a larger and growing Texas Transportation-Construction Management organization of more than 100 construction professionals. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with major road or bridge construction
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or the ability to obtain within 6 months Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time framesGood verbal and written communication skills required
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periodsAbility to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasksAbility to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protectionAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience using CADD software, preferably MicroStation, and experience with Highway Design and Work Zone Traffic Control Plans
- Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMGC, and other alternative contract delivery methods OSHA 10 hour
