Description
As the Planning Intern, you will:
Provide planning staff support services to the Planning Department on all aspects of planning.
Assist Planners and Researchers on project activities, including by not limited to long range plan development, active transportation planning, GIS analysis and data support, data analysis, assisting in development of presentations, planning research, participating, and contributing to meetings with internal and external partners, writing, editing, and reviewing plan documents.
Completes other duties as assigned to support the Planning team. Work may involve travel to other locations for meetings, research, field work, etc.
This position is a part-time internship, not to exceed 29 hours per week, and is expected to last 6-12 months, and no longer than 1 year.
This is an in-person position that cannot be conducted remotely. If you do not live in the Salt Lake City or surrounding area, this position would require you to relocate for the full duration of the internship.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING
No direct planning experience is necessary for this position.
Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture, Business, Public Policy, or another related field.
Preferred GPA of at least 3.0, but not required.
Must submit a transcript of grades and (2) letters of recommendation.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office at the intermediate level (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook), quantitative/statistical analysis and business writing.
Preferred proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS at the intermediate level.
Preferred proficiency in developing graphics and presentations, including use of Adobe CS software or equivalent.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $20.88 Per Hour
