Epsilon Systems is seeking a full time Tool Room Attendant located in Portsmouth, VA.
SUMMARY: Receives, inspects, stores, and issues tools, equipment, and other items from tool room storage area. Keeps records and compiles stock/inventory and usage reports using a computer system and data base. Sends tools out for repair estimates as necessary. Drops off and picks up tools/equipment and materials from vendors and or job site locations when assigned.
Reports to the Facilities Manager in the performance of his/her responsibilities. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following?
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strictly adheres to corporate, federal, state, and local safety regulations prior to setting up or operating any machinery.
Adheres to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
Maintains good housekeeping practices; turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc.
Receives and counts tools, and records data using computer.
Packs and unpacks tools to be stocked.
Checks tools in and out of tool room. All tools being checked in will be inspected for proper operating condition and completeness of all parts. Make notations of the following: the condition of the tool as it leaves and is returned to the tool room and the person receiving the tool and the person returning the tool to the tool room
Prepares monthly inventory and sends out to assigned projects for verification. Maintains perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
Locates lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
Verifies tool inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
Stores tools in an orderly and accessible manner in tool room or other areas.
Marks tools using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment as necessary.
Cleans, maintains, and repairs tools.
Maintains supplies, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Determines proper storage methods, identification, and stock locations based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
Keeps records on the use and/or damage of tools or equipment.
Examines and inspects tools for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
Researches the cost of repairing tools and makes recommendations for repair or replace to manager.
Maintains calibrated tools in accordance with company policies.
Delivers tools and equipment to workers when necessary.
Backs-up driver when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have and maintain a current driver’s license and be insurable to drive a company vehicle.
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply.
General knowledge of tools and what they do.
Must be able to MULTITASK.
Must have the ability to work quickly and diligently.
Must be able to perform with minimal supervision.
Must know how to use computer search engines to research a tool by description.
Must have a working knowledge & understanding of Excel, Word, and ACCESS and the manipulation of data.
Must be able to communicate effectively and work independently or in a group.
Must have a “customer service” mindset.
Must have the ability to gain and maintain access to military installations and private shipyards.
Performs work outside of trade if necessary.
Ability to travel required.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms.
Regular communication (hearing/speaking).
Prolonged sitting and use of computer (typing/keyboarding)
Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Lifting up to 50 pounds.
Noise conditions range from very quiet to very noisy.
