SUMMARY
The Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) serves as the internal recruiting champion partnered with hiring managers to achieve company wide recruiting goals. The TAS proactively, tactically, and strategically uses recruiting tools, systems, and online resources to identify talented and qualified applicants, engages candidates, and presents candidates to hiring managers for interviews and selection. The TAS performs tasks in accordance with company policy and procedures for the candidates from initial interviewing through placement in the workforce. The TAS receives internal hiring demands provided by hiring managers, transforms the information into action, including posting jobs on job boards and internal Applicant Tracking Systems. The TAS will formally work with hiring managers to set up candidate interviews, participate in interviewing candidates with hiring managers, and assist when necessary in candidate assessment for placement. TAS must be familiar with talent pipelines, third-party recruiting agencies, trades schools, and other programs where qualified candidates may be sourced from. Key Performance Indicators measured for this role include hiring needs met, first year retention, and year over year turnover.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage full-cycle recruiting process for assigned positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and supporting the job offer process.
- Build relationships with potential candidates.
- Partners closely with Trades Teams.
- Analyze and anticipate the company's hiring and talent needs and build and maintain talent pipelines for future hiring needs
- Utilize job boards, social media platforms, professional networking websites, and employee referral programs to contact potential candidates.
- Proactively source passive and active candidates using a variety of effective sourcing channels and methods such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed Resume, or other search methods.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines to support current and future hiring needs.
- Screen resumes and refer qualified candidates to hiring managers.
- Develop job postings and ensure roles are properly advertised across relevant platforms.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, clarify job requirements, and support effective selection processes.
- Maintain relationships with candidates, external recruitment agencies, and professional associations.
- Monitor external labor market conditions and share insights with talent acquisition leadership.
- Maintain accurate, compliant candidate records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Support onboarding coordination or orientation activities when needed. Conduct employee onboarding and orientation each week.
- Ability to work flexible hours, travel to other company locations and recruiting events. Overnight is expected.
- Assist QA/Safety in obtaining necessary information for certifications & training from candidates chosen during onboarding.
- Research, coordinate, and participate in on-site and off-site hiring events and job fairs across the United States to attract qualified talent and support high-volume hiring needs.
- Consistently achieve hiring plan goals by setting clear expectations, tracking progress, and leveraging data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead data and reporting efforts, establishing and tracking key recruiting metrics to measure success and identify areas for improvement. Maintain recruiting reports (production staffing, interview, rehires, etc.).
- Deliver an exceptional candidate experience by delivering first-class candidate rapport from initial contact, Interview, offer, and onboarding.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in recruiting and implement new ideas and innovative solutions to drive better recruiting outcomes.
- During high volume recruiting evolutions, be directly engaged, on the ground in the region of the activity, and lead the local recruiting function.
- Monitor work force surges, both up and down, and when employees are placed in Workforce Reduction Status, ensure active contact is maintained to ensure future placement on projects is an option to return those employees back to work.
- Monitors pay scales and wages for Trades employees and make offers to new hires within provided guidelines of pay.
- Monitor 'traveling' workforce, focused on returning workforce members back to home of record regions when projects end, as possible.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Lead orientation sessions for new employees to ensure they are familiar with company policies and culture.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to extend job offers and oversee negotiation timelines.
- Coordinate and oversee the onboarding process, including pre-employment setup and 90-day check-ins.
- This position is a member of the Human Resources Department and will perform regular duties at all times as necessary to ensure employee relations matters are properly administered, such as employee pay changes, disciplinary or other change of status forms are received in HR and may conduct other duties normally performed by or within the HR Department as directed by the Human Resources Manager.
- May be required to research best practices in Talent Acquisition, Human Resources Onboarding programs, and produce presentations as needed with updates to meet changing needs or requirements in the Onboarding process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- This professional role will collaborate with other internal success partners in Talent Management and often times will provide supervision, direction, and technical support to the team, or direct reports including administrative professionals.
- Apply prioritization of assignments and expectations as required, monitoring the productivity of the team, especially during high-volume hiring needs as applicable and necessary to those assigned in Talent Management Team.

- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including EEOC and OFCCP compliance.
- Ability to analyze recruitment metrics and use data to drive decision-making.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 4 years of exemplary talent acquisition experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferred in Business Administration/HR Focused.
- Requirement of bachelor's degree may be waived for candidates with a minimum of 8 total years of exemplary talent acquisition experience.
- Experience recruiting for multiple roles and departments simultaneously.
- Experience in Maritime industry preferred.
- SHRM, PHR, SPHR credentials are desired but not required.
- Experience working with Artificial Intelligence to enhance the efficiencies of the position are a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in working in a fast-paced environment
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is conducted primarily in an office environment. May be required to visit shipyard/customer facilities occasionally.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk; must be able to view computer screen for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 15 pounds at times on an infrequent basis.
- May be required to climb stairs
- Travel to be expected periodically during regional hiring efforts in other regions of the company.
- Company operations are nationwide and may require working after normal business hours on east coast to accommodate activities on other coasts in different time zones.
