The Digital & Interactive Designer is a hands-on role focused on creating motion-rich, interactive digital experiences that bring Leidos’ storytelling to life. This role combines interaction design, animation, and front-end development to deliver engaging digital narratives across websites, campaigns, experiential activations, and customer-facing environments.
Working within the Creative Studio and in close partnership with the Interactive Design Lead, Senior Digital & UX Strategist, and Digital Platform Product Owner, this role helps translate experience intent, content, and brand storytelling into polished, production-ready digital experiences that are intuitive, performant, and scalable.
This role is ideal for a builder who enjoys shaping how content moves, responds, and engages users through thoughtful interaction and motion.
Responsibilities
Digital & Motion Experience Delivery
- Design and build motion-forward digital experiences for websites, microsites, campaigns, and experiential environments.
- Create interactive storytelling experiences that combine animation, transitions, micro-interactions, and responsive behaviors.
- Translate wireframes, experience requirements, and content narratives into functional, interactive digital experiences.
- Partner with video and motion design teams to integrate animation, video, and interactive elements seamlessly into digital work.
Front-End Development & Creative Technology
- Build interactive digital experiences using modern front-end frameworks such as React or comparable technologies.
- Implement animation and motion behaviors using appropriate libraries and tools.
- Ensure digital experiences are performant, accessible, and responsive across devices and platforms.
- Support implementation of interactive experiences within existing digital platforms and content systems.
- Contribute technical insight during design and planning to ensure feasibility and efficient execution.
Experience Quality, Reuse & Optimization
- Apply interaction patterns and motion systems defined by the Interactive Design Lead to ensure consistency and reuse.
- Identify opportunities to modularize motion and interaction components for reuse across channels and initiatives.
- Participate in testing, refinement, and optimization of digital experiences to improve usability and engagement.
- Document interactive patterns, motion components, and implementation approaches to support scalability.
Collaboration & Ways of Working
- Collaborate closely with the Interactive Design Lead to execute experience architecture and interaction direction.
- Work with the Senior Digital & UX Strategist to ensure experience requirements and usability standards are reflected in delivered work.
- Partner with the Digital Platform Product Owner to align digital experiences with platform capabilities and constraints.
- Coordinate with engineering, IT, and external partners to support delivery, deployment, and troubleshooting as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in design, computer science, digital media, or related field and 8+ years of experience in digital experience design, front-end development, creative technology, or motion-focused interactive roles. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating motion-rich digital experiences, interactive storytelling, and front-end implementation.
- Proficiency with modern front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React.
- Experience implementing animation, transitions, and motion-driven interactions using relevant libraries or tools.
- Solid understanding of interaction design, UX principles, responsive design, and accessibility best practices.
