The Opportunity
Leidos is seeking a Senior Business Development (BD) Director to lead undersea warfare growth across the U.S. Navy and broader DoD maritime community. This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role responsible for shaping long-term growth strategy, driving major captures, and positioning Leidos as a premier undersea warfare partner. The ideal candidate brings deep domain expertise, executive-level customer relationships, and a proven record of winning complex, mission-critical programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior growth leader for undersea warfare, shaping and executing market and capture strategies aligned with enterprise and Maritime growth objectives.
- Build, maintain, and expand executive-level relationships across Navy undersea operational, technical, and acquisition communities.
- Identify, qualify, and mature a robust portfolio of undersea opportunities supporting near-, mid-, and long-term growth.
- Lead and oversee capture strategies for priority pursuits, ensuring disciplined execution across the full BD lifecycle.
- Partner with Maritime leadership, capture executives, program managers, and solution architects to align investments, offerings, and messaging.
- Drive competitive positioning and differentiation through deep understanding of customer needs, mission priorities, and competitor capabilities.
- Coordinate across Leidos business areas to deliver integrated, enterprise-level solutions to customer challenges.
- Execute to annual bookings, revenue, pipeline, and award targets.
- Guide development of marketing collateral, white papers, and thought leadership that highlight Leidos’ undersea capabilities.
- Represent Leidos at senior-level industry forums, tradeshows, customer engagements, and strategic planning events.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance market intelligence, opportunity shaping, and pipeline execution.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance; active clearance strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 15+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.
- Deep understanding of undersea warfare missions, platforms, sensors, and systems; previous submarine officer preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in business development and capture within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Proven success leading and winning large, complex undersea or maritime defense programs.
- Established senior-level relationships with U.S. Navy and DoD stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of government acquisition processes, contracting, and customer buying behaviors.
- Ability to lead and influence across organizational and geographic boundaries.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive and flag-level briefings.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 33%, including CONUS and OCONUS, as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- DAWIA Level III and/or PMP certification.
- Experience with PPBE processes.
- Familiarity with operational test and evaluation.
- Formal training in Business Development, Capture Management, or Strategic Growth Leadership.
