DHL Same Day is DHL Global Forwarding’s global time critical & white glove service. With our flexibility of services meeting the emergency shipment needs of a wide range of industries, whether it’s the extensive database of aircraft parts we maintain for our Aircraft On Ground clients, or expediting mission-critical parts globally for our Semiconductor and Automotive clients, or the ability to meet time-critical temperature-sensitive needs unique to Life Sciences and clinical trial logistics, DHL Same Day gets the shipment there, when it has to be, for any business or organization.
Overall Role Purpose
IT Solution & Process Design is the key enabler for complex, cross-product IT solutions. This role supports the team transforming big-picture requirements—often called Epics—into clear concepts and actionable designs. Defines how processes run across multiple IT products, ensuring seamless integration and execution providing expertise in all areas covered by GPAM Solutions Domain with a key focus area of Airfreight Specialty Product – Same Day accelerating the digitalization of our processes within DGF.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Product and Function stakeholders to understand complex Epics, including requirements, constraints, and key challenges
• Define, document, and align on high-level conceptual solutions across IT products, detailing process execution, product capabilities, and their interactions
• Define, document, and align on individual user stories—both functional and non-functional—to deliver required capabilities across IT products
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and stakeholders to evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, frameworks, and third-party services that best fit solution needs
• Manage the delivery of the agreed solution and scope across IT products, including stakeholder management, reporting, and project management oversight
• Test and evaluate the solution during delivery by IT Product Management, guiding teams to ensure alignment with the defined design or adjusting requirements in collaboration with Products and Functions
• Collaborate closely with Product and Function teams to ensure successful deployment, operational use of the delivered solution, and realization of agreed benefits
Role Requirements
• 5+ years’ experience in a related field to include successful product deployment
• A Bachelor’s degree in IT or Business or equivalent SameDay experience/expertise, Technical Certifications a plus
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in application maintenance and development
• Ability to analyze and decompose stakeholder needs into sets of requirements
• Solid understanding and knowledge of Freight forwarding environment
• Experience with integration of systems
• Skilled in analytical thinking with a strong attention to detail and a strong customer focus
• Skilled in Quality Management – ensuring delivery of quality outcomes
• Experience with agile software development and tools like Jira, GSN, Rational suite etc.
• Ability to explain requirements to software developers
• Creative mindset – and the ability to approach a problem creatively
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of IT systems
• Fluent in English communication (verbal/written)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Knowledge of Same Day products and services
• Prior experience in the transportation/logistics industry a plus
• Exposure to Time Critical service is a plus
• System Expertise Experience as a super user in CW1, FCM and other global platforms
• IT Automation Projects Exposure to automation initiatives and technology-driven process enhancements
