Summary/Objective: The Principal Product Engineer FEA leads advanced structural and thermal analyses for complex mechanical systems. This role emphasizes deep expertise in finite elements analysis (FEA), particularly non-linear behavior, shock, vibration, creep, thermal loading, and stress relaxation phenomena. The engineer will serve as a subject matter expert and guide design teams within New Product or Sustaining Product Engineering ensuring compliance with demanding environmental and performance requirements. Essential Functions/ Responsibilities: Lead and perform complex finite element analysis (FEA) studies using industry standard tools ( e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, LS-DYNA) for static, dynamic, shock, vibration, and thermo-mechanical loading across components and assemblies. Lead simulation-driven studies and analytical Design of Experiments (DOE) to quantify sensitivity to geometry, materials, process parameters, and boundary conditions. Multi-step, history-dependent mechanical and thermo-mechanical loading, including manufacturing and assembly load sequences, across components and assemblies. Analyze and predict fatigue, damage accumulation, and long-term reliability using physics-based metrics such as strain energy density, stress/strain range, and time and force dependent deformation behavior. Utilize simulation to evaluate material behavior in metals, polymers, and composite materials to inform design and material selection. Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced mechanics, structural integrity, and reliability of mechanical assemblies and systems. Conduct coupled thermo-mechanical simulations to evaluate creep, thermal fatigue, and long-term material deformation under sustained loads. Develop, implement, and validate advanced material models including viscoelastic, creep, and stress relaxation behavior, particularly at elevated temperatures. Develop and correlate analytical models with physical test data to ensure accuracy and predictive capability. Provide technical mentorship for simulation engineers and lead standardization of FEA workflows, best practices, and analysis templates. Partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions that meet customer requirements. Communicate analytical findings effectively in design reviews, technical reports, and presentations to internal and external customers. Work effectively across multiple projects and priorities in a demanding environment. The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Excellent technical communication (written and verbal) and experience interfacing with customers, multidisciplinary engineering teams, and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Experience: Experience within electronic, defense, aerospace, energy, or high reliability industrial fields. Samtec, Inc. Position Title: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Description Summary/Objective : This position will have a primary focus on Mainstream Products . A strong understanding of manufacturing methods and product knowledge of all Samtec offerings will be required. This will require the candidate to investigate and resolve component quality problems caused by an external Samtec supplier with the intent to correct defects and prevent recurrences of defects . Investigation techniques will include measuring, testing, tolerance analysis, root cause identification . This position will require the evaluation of historical data and quality problem s to identify opportunities for continuous improvement at the component and supplier levels. This position will communicate with manufacturing, engineering, and management to implement Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions and when needed contract with the supplier to ensure noncompliant parts are brought into design specification. Supplier Quality Mission: Provide support to manufacturing enabling high quality finished goods by continuous improvement of component quality and supplier development. Essential Functions / Responsibilities : Identify root cause of quality issues and execution of product quality improvements through short/long term corrective actions and implementation of preventative actions. Ensure site compliance to Samtec QMS to maintain ISO 9001 certification and other certifications Ensure compliance to ITAR requirements. Engage with suppliers on quality issues and generate detailed 8D reports including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions. Conduct onsite supplier audits (domestic and international travel may be necessary). Work with manufacturing quality, process engineering, product engineering, and/or operations to investigate root cause of quality issues and define corrective and preventive actions. Study and recommend techniques to improve product and process control methods with suppliers Own any quality assurance objectives established by upper management and work with operations staff to ensure the objectives are met. Support internal audit ors for compliance to procedures and work instructions . Manage assigned projects and ensure they are completed in a timely manner. Required Experience: Must be able to interpret 2D drawings. Familiarity with ISO 9001. Working knowledge of 8D problem solving methodology. Detail oriented problem solver with good analytical skills. Able to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fluid environment. Working knowledge of FMEA, SPC, CpK , GRR, Lean, and DOE . Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs . Preferred Experience: 2-5 years of related job experience in Product, Design, Process or Quality Engineer ing . Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as electro-plating, i njection m olding , tooling manufacturing. Problem solving skills and thinking outside of the box are traits that are highly desired. Ability to interpret relevant industry standards (IPC, ASME, etc ) and apply them to quality problem resolution.
