Description
Leidos is seeking a Space Logistics Lead to support the Commercial Low Earth Orbit Destination (CLD) mission. This role will lead the development and execution of logistics strategies for next-generation commercial and scientific space stations, ensuring efficient cargo, inventory, and lifecycle management from development through on-orbit operations.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance; due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent residency is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering, system, and operations teams within our partnerships to build relationships and gain familiarity with project requirements
- Provide technical leadership in developing logistics requirements, tools, and procedures for cargo operations, spares management, consumables, provisions, stowage, and inventory management
- Represent the logistics team in technical and programmatic discussions and decision forums
- Oversee product development to meet milestone requirements and deliveries
- Assess logistics team resource needs and make recommendations for additional support when necessary
- Evaluate space station architecture, operations concepts, and ground/onboard facilities to ensure logistics needs are met
- Develop tentative timelines for hardware development through launch and return
- Create and maintain stowage plans, including mapping of stowage areas and determining optimal hardware configurations
- Collaborate with various groups to determine redundancy hardware requirements and maintenance plans
- Develop and refine an Iterative Stowage Plan for efficient hardware management and cycling on space stations
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of experience in lieu of degree. Must have at least 5 years of logistics management experience supporting space systems or complex aerospace programs
- Experience developing and implementing logistics processes and controls
- Proficiency with logistics management systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in cross-functional environments
- Willing and able to travel internationally a couple times a year, up to a week in duration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience supporting space station or human spaceflight programs
- Familiarity with NASA and commercial space industry standards
- Knowledge of aerospace configuration management practices
- Experience managing integrated schedules for complex technical programs
- Proficiency with CAD tools for stowage planning
- Experience working with international partners
- Knowledge of space system safety and regulatory requirements
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
- Multilingual capability (German, French, or Spanish)
