Description
As an Electronics Technician 2, you will perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and reconditioning of electronic hardware used by the Federal Aviation Administration. This role requires the ability to work independently on complex electronic systems, ensure compliance with prescribed safety and quality standards, and support production goals through technical expertise and process discipline. The Electronics Technician 2 is expected to serve as a technical resource within the team and support the training and development of less experienced technicians.
Primary Responsibilities
Advanced Diagnosis and Troubleshooting
Independently diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic hardware issues using advanced test equipment, schematics, and technical documentation. Repair and Reconditioning
Perform detailed repairs and reconditioning of FAA electronic hardware, including component-level repair where applicable, ensuring equipment meets functional and reliability requirements. Testing and Quality Assurance
Execute and validate functional, environmental, and acceptance testing to verify repaired equipment meets FAA and Leidos specifications. Identify and resolve test failures with minimal supervision. Documentation and Traceability
Accurately document troubleshooting activities, repairs performed, parts replaced, and test results in accordance with program and quality requirements. Technical Collaboration
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and support program deliverables. Compliance and Safety
Ensure strict adherence to Leidos policies, FAA regulations, ESD controls, and safety procedures throughout all repair and testing activities. Mentorship and Support
Provide guidance and technical support to Electronics Technician 1 personnel, assisting with troubleshooting, best practices, and procedural understanding as needed. Process Improvement
Identify recurring issues, inefficiencies, or failure trends and recommend corrective actions or process improvements to enhance quality and throughput.
Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in electronic hardware repair and troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits, and system-level operation
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical procedures
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree in Electronics Technology or a related field
• Prior experience supporting FAA, aerospace, or safety-critical systems
• Experience with component-level repair and advanced diagnostic equipment
• Familiarity with quality systems, test documentation, and configuration control
• Experience assisting with training or mentoring junior technicians
