DHL Express has an opening for a Safety Specialist in our Miami Hub operation. The Safety Specialist completes accident/ injury and safety metric reports and conducts safety inspections. They promote accident/injury prevention through observation and training and provide safety guidance to operations personnel. They lead employee safety meetings as needed. They conduct accident and injury investigations and promote the DHL safety culture.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supports DHL's policies and procedures in regard to health and safety regulations.
- Responds to injury and accident notifications and supports investigations to determine root cause and preventative measures.
- Administers safety reporting and maintains detailed records of safety incidents and corrective actions taken.
- Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present safety reports and statistics to leadership team.
- Facilitates safety training including new employee orientation.
- Identifies at risk behavior and conditions and supports Safety Manager and Operations Leadership to correct.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards in accordance with regulatory standards (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Perform risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified risks.
- Supports Safety initiatives, promotions, and events.
- Participates in safety committee meetings.
- Attends Performance Dialogues.
- Attends and supports monthly safety trainings
- Promotes the DHL safety culture and values.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in safety management preferred.
- Proven experience in a safety specialist or analyst role, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and training skills.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
- Basic knowledge of DHL workplace safety and health risks and/or other transportation operations experience helpful.
Required language is English; bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.
