Leidos is seeking experienced Scrum Masters to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the development of next-generation flight service and air traffic systems. This work aligns with the FAA’s broader initiative to modernize legacy flight service capabilities, replacing aging infrastructure with scalable, cloud-based platforms designed to improve safety and operational efficiency—particularly in remote and high-dependency aviation environments. These efforts focus on delivering mission-critical, future-ready solutions that provide safety-critical flight services to the pilot community.
As a member of a Scaled Agile software development organization, you will contribute to the technical execution of a program that integrates proven, globally deployed technologies with modern cloud-native capabilities. You will work alongside cross-functional teams and technical leaders to deliver predictable outcomes in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
In this position, you will serve as a DevSecOps Scrum Master, guiding Agile/SAFe processes while actively contributing to the design, development, and implementation of software solutions. You will foster effective collaboration across cross-functional teams and partner closely with the Product Owner, Systems Engineers, and development teams to align priorities and drive successful delivery. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on coding experience, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Candidate must be able to obtain a favorable SF-85P Public Trust suitability determination from the FAA customer. Due to contract requirements, the position requires U.S. Citizenship.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the team in executing planned sprint activities.
- Facilitate and lead all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Retrospectives, and Reviews/Demos, using relevant metrics and data to drive continuous improvement.
- Actively remove impediments by resolving blocking issues related to feature development, build and dependency challenges, operational support conflicts, and process.
- Provide timely status, risk, and dependency reporting to the Release Train Engineer and management, including sprint execution, team availability, and issues impacting delivery.
- Design, develop, document, configure, test, and debug applications and frameworks across the full software development life cycle, serving as a key contributor to system enhancements and new features.
- Assist with deployment, diagnosis, and resolution of critical issues in lab and operational systems as required.
- Collaborate with and mentor junior team members to meet sprint commitments and project milestones.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional internal teams, stakeholders, and, when necessary, external partners to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 8-12 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 6-10 years of prior experience. May also possess a Doctorate
- In-depth knowledge of Java with substantial hands-on programming experience
- Extensive experience with Web development and commonly used front-end tools and languages (React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Extensive experience with unit testing tools such as Junit and Mockito
- Experience with RESTful API, JSON, XML, XSD
- Significant experience with Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot
- Significant experience with Linux
- Significant experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion
- Experience with common development tools and IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code, etc.)
- Experience working as a Scrum Master within the Agile Scrum framework
- Understanding of sound software development principles and practices
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to obtain SF-85 Public Trust (Tier 2) suitability determination
- US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of or experience with AI-assisted coding (Claude Code, Codex etc.)
- Knowledge of or experience with microservices and cloud-based environments
- Knowledge of or experience with Python programming language
- Knowledge of or experience with Ansible playbooks and YAML
- Knowledge of or experience with Linux shell scripting
- Knowledge of or experience with MongoDB
- Knowledge of air traffic control and flight services
