Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a Deputy Program Manager to support the Ground-Based Radar (GBR) Digitization Program, a major modernization initiative enhancing the nation’s missile warning, missile defense, and space domain awareness capabilities.
Misson Overview
In this role, you will support the modernization of legacy radar systems across eight Ground-Based Radar sites. These systems provide continuous surveillance, detection, tracking, and reporting of missile and satellite activity in support of Missile Warning (MW), Missile Defense (MD), and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) missions.
The GBR Digitization Program is implementing a common digital backend architecture and modernizing radar front-end systems to maximize standardization, improve maintainability, and enhance mission readiness across the enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership — Assist the Program Manager in overseeing all aspects of program cost, schedule, performance, and customer engagement for a large, multi-phase modernization effort.
Team Management — Support the leadership of a 90+ person team executing a three-phase contract to define modernization requirements, establish a system baseline, and deploy a modernized radar solution.
Multi‑Site Modernization Oversight — Coordinate concurrent efforts across eight global radar sites to assess system condition, performance, and capability gaps that inform the reference baseline architecture.
Customer & Stakeholder Coordination — Facilitate collaboration with government customers, internal teams, and other contractors; serve as the customer interface and represent the Program Manager when required.
Reporting & Governance — Support all official reporting requirements, including routine updates, event-driven reports, and program reviews.
Deployment & Integration Support — Assist in planning and coordinating team deployments to austere global sites for system assessment, solution development, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Innovation & Technology Evaluation — Review and vet team recommendations involving next-generation phased array radar technology, multi-cloud and hybrid architectures, and AI-enabled enhancements for mission performance and lifecycle optimization.
Mission-Focused Execution — Ensure modernization activities meet aggressive timelines and demanding performance requirements in support of national security objectives.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field and 8+ years of experience in program management and systems integration (additional experience, training, or certifications may substitute for degree).
US Citizen; Currently possesses an Active Secret Clearance.
Demonstrated experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), collaboration tools, system integration, configuration management, cybersecurity updates, test support, CI/CD, operational acceptance, and sustainment operations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven leadership and management experience supporting complex technical programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Experience supporting DoD, MDA, U.S. Space Force, Air Force, or Intelligence Community programs.
Experience with Integrated Tactical Warning / Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) systems or related programs such as UEWR, Space Fence, CCIC2S, or other ground-based radar systems.
Experience with cybersecurity, classified network governance and accreditation, operational acceptance processes, and system lifecycle management.
