Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented tax specialist to join our client's team, supporting a diverse portfolio that includes individuals, businesses, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations. This Tax role combines hands-on return preparation with review responsibilities, client communication, and related accounting support. The ideal Tax candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to guide entry-level staff while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and service. This Tax Role can be a Tax or a Sr. Tax or Tax Supervisor level candidate. This Tax role is with a small firm so looking for someone who wants to join a small company environment with less than 10 employees.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and process tax filings for individual clients as well as business entities, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.

Communicate with clients to obtain missing records, clarify financial details, and keep filings moving efficiently toward completion.

Review work completed by part-time team members and interns, provide constructive feedback, and support corrections to improve overall quality.

Reconcile trial balances to tax returns and record appropriate adjustments to ensure accurate reporting.

Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements, including depreciation-related updates and supporting schedules.

Perform bookkeeping and other basic accounting activities that contribute to complete and organized tax engagements.

Manage assigned returns from intake handoff through final preparation while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and high-quality client service.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience preparing tax returns for individuals at a minimum, businesses, trusts, and estates would be a plus

Proficiency with Drake Tax Software or similar tax preparation platforms.

Ability to review tax work prepared by others and clearly communicate needed revisions.

Understanding of trial balance reconciliation, adjusting entries, and depreciation accounting.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow up on outstanding client documentation.

Background in light accounting or bookkeeping that supports tax preparation work.
