Job Summary

Strength in Service — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to mental health, social health, and career support for military spouses and military connected families — is seeking a part-time Associate Social Worker (ASW) to join our hybrid clinical team in Coronado, CA.

The road from MSW to LCSW in California is long. It requires 3,000 supervised hours, a qualified LCSW supervisor, a position that generates qualifying clinical work, and the resilience to hold it all together — often while also navigating PCS moves, deployment, solo parenting, and every other thing military life asks of you. This position was built to make that path a little clearer and a lot more supported.

As an ASW at Strength in Service, you will provide individual psychotherapy to military connected and civilian clients via telehealth and in person at our Coronado, CA office — with a minimum of two in-person days per week. All clinical work is provided under the direct supervision of our LCSW Clinical Supervisor in full compliance with California BBS requirements.

What we provide:

Every qualifying clinical hour counted and tracked toward your 3,000-hour LCSW requirement. A LCSW supervisor — you do not need to find or pay for your own. Individual and group supervision on a regular schedule. Malpractice insurance coverage.Paid administrative time for documentation, supervision, and team meetings. A hybrid schedule with telehealth flexibility. Competitive part-time compensation. And a team that was built by military spouses who understand your life and will not hold it against your career.

This is a supervised practice position. ASWs at Strength in Service do not practice independently. All clinical decisions are made under the guidance of the clinical supervisor in compliance with California BBS and NASW Code of Ethics standards.

Strength in Service is licensed to provide services in California, Hawaii, North Dakota, and Virginia. We serve active duty service members, veterans, military spouses, and civilian clients through a social health integrated model that addresses not just clinical symptoms but the community conditions that drive them.

To apply, please send a resume, cover letter, and a copy of your active California ASW BBS registration to executivedirector@strengthinservice.org — Subject: ASW Application — [Your Name].

Military spouses, veterans, and individuals with lived military experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
