Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a growing construction organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining financial records, assisting with job cost accounting, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end close. The ideal candidate has accounting experience within the construction industry and understands project-based financial processes. Based on general knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and general ledger transactions.

• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

• Maintain and analyze job cost records for multiple construction projects.

• Review project expenses and help ensure costs are coded accurately.

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.

• Track subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and vendor documentation.

• Assist with payroll entries and labor cost allocations.

• Prepare financial reports and support budget-to-actual analysis.

• Help ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and construction contract requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

• 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or project-based environments.

• Knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Familiarity with job costing and construction accounting principles.

• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
