Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our client in Pleasanton, California in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent position. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and help produce reliable reporting in an accrual-based environment. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound knowledge of accounts payable processes, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries, review general ledger activity, and investigate account variances to support accurate reporting.

Reconcile bank and cash accounts on a regular basis and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Manage the full accounts payable workflow, including invoice review, coding validation, and timely processing of vendor payments.

Examine employee expense submissions and corporate card support to ensure compliance with company reimbursement policies and proper account allocation.

Assist with month-end and year-end close activities and provide schedules, reconciliations, and supporting records during audit requests.

Requirements

Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or at least five years of directly relevant accounting experience.

Working knowledge of core accounting practices, financial statements, and accrual-based bookkeeping.

Hands-on experience with general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Practical understanding of accounts payable procedures, including invoice coding and vendor payment processing.
