Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations for a team of approximately 101 to 500 employees in Watsonville, California. This is a Contract position scheduled to continue through the end of the year, offering a hybrid work arrangement and a part-time daytime schedule of 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on payroll experience, strong accuracy, and the ability to manage sensitive employee information with professionalism.

Responsibilities:

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a mid-sized employee population while ensuring timely and accurate pay distribution.

Review payroll data for completeness and resolve discrepancies related to hours worked, deductions, and employee records.

Administer wage garnishments and other required payroll deductions in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.

Maintain organized payroll documentation and update records to support audits, reporting, and internal compliance needs.

Coordinate with employees and internal departments to answer payroll-related questions and address issues efficiently.

Support payroll activities within a hybrid work environment while meeting deadlines on a consistent weekly schedule. Requirements Previous experience in payroll processing, including full-cycle payroll responsibilities.

Ability to manage payroll for an employee population ranging from roughly 101 to 500 individuals.

Working knowledge of garnishments, payroll deductions, and payroll record maintenance.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct payroll discrepancies.

Comfort handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid setting.
